On the 1st October 2007, St Anthony of Badua’s congregation gathered at the King’s Villa to make a traditional Tongan presentation to His Majesty King George Tupou V. The presentation was made in honour of His Majesty’s acceptance of the invitation from the Catholic Church of the Diocese of Tonga and Niue to attend the consecration of the new bishop, Bishop Soane Patita Paini Mafi, which is to be held at the Immaculate Heart Church at Ma’ufanga.

The presentation was made to Her Royal Highness Princess Latufuipeka who was accompanied by six matapule. Matapule (Talking Chief) Uhi, Umouma-taha-he-lotu and Manumanu-melie-he-lotu were seated on the right and Mauo, Pouaki -‘i-Pasilika and Molumalu-he-lotu on the right.

Hon. Ve’ehala and Bishop Paini Mafi were accompanied by ‘Aholangamakahiva, Motuliki Fakatava, Fr Paulo ‘Amato, Fr Taukei, Sr Senolita, Kalisi Tu’itavake, ‘Ala Fifita and members of the congregation. ‘Uluaki-fatongia-‘i-Pasilika made the presentation of behalf of the congregation.

The Ngaue (range of gifts) presented were:
Kau ‘ufi ‘e 4 taha nga’ahoa mo e matelau (43 yams)
Puaka toho ‘e 6 (6 large pigs)
Kava Fuataha ‘e 4 (4 kava plants)
